AHM Youth and Family Services, a regional charity for the towns of Andover, Columbia, Hebron, and Marlborough recently received a grant in the amount of $2500.00 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.

This year’s grant will support the AHM Youth and Family Services Counseling program. According to Tressa Giordano, AHM’s Executive Director, “We are seeing an ever-increasing number of children, teens and young adults experiencing mental health challenges. Our family counseling program serves ever-greater mental health needs of local community members, including children, teens and young adults. We see that challenge continuing to grow.”

Over the past thirty-five years, AHM Master Level Counselors and Social Workers have helped several thousand families cope with a multitude of social and emotional challenges stemming from a wide range of mental health conditions. This critically important service helps at-risk and vulnerable young people who are coping with conditions such as depression, suicide, eating disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma. Since 1981, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal has been able to assist tens of thousands of people, regardless of race, religion or color, across the Archdiocese of Hartford with health care, education, housing, emergency expenses, and in numerous other areas. It is through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program and the generosity of its donors that the Appeal is able to assist a wide array of community-based charities throughout Hartford, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties.
