The 4-Point Program offers specific tools and techniques for each of the program points:

  • Point 3: Managing Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors
  • Point 4: Living a Balanced Life

Meet our Facilitators!

Lauren Scharn

Meet our SMART Recovery Friends & Family group, Thursday night 5:30pm facilitator, Lauren Scharn! Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified SMART Recovery Facilitator. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at Eastern Connecticut State University as well as her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in New York. At Columbia, Lauren specialized in Health, Mental Health, and Disability, where she dedicated her time to helping individuals and families dealing with health impairments alongside a host of psychosocial issues. Lauren has gained her experience from working in hospital settings, providing in-home and community-based therapy for children and families, and as an on-call crisis therapist. Through a person-centered, strengths-based approach, Lauren strives to empower individuals to overcome their challenges and become the best versions of themselves. Dan Mixter

Meet Dan Mixter, who facilitates two of our SMART Recovery groups for both Young Adults age 18-24 on Mondays at 5:30pm, and Teens age 16-18 on Wednesdays at 2:30pm!

Dan is a Certified SMART Recovery Facilitator and has been actively involved in recovery for more than 28 years. During this time, Dan has worked with adults and teens on developing and implementing methods for achieving long term recovery, one day at a time.
