Nature and Adventure Day this year at the Maple Festival
AHM Youth and Family Services and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will be teaming up again this year to host the Fourth Annual Nature and Adventure Day as part of the Maple Festival weekend.
This year’s Nature and Adventure day will be held on Saturday, March 21st on the grounds of AHM Youth and Family Services, 25 Pendleton Drive in Hebron. The doors will open at 10 AM.
Nature and Adventure Day will feature a wide range of indoor and outdoor environmental educational fun and interactive programs, for both children and adults. An early list of activities includes a live raptor demonstration from Horizon Wings, displays on amphibian and reptile life, a Connecticut Tea Trail exhibit, exploring trees, animal skulls, bones and furs, Native American history, making a plaster cast animal print and much more. Outdoors there will be guided hikes on the beautiful St. Peter’s preserve. According to AHM Board President Steve Fish: “this year there will also be a Do It Yourself” maple syrup demonstration that will also include historical aspects of making maple syrup in New England, tapping and boiling it down to syrup”
More activities will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets are $3.00 at the door, (both children and adults). All proceeds from Nature and Adventure Day will help support mental health services for local children and families served by AHM.
