First Steps in Music is a developmentally appropriate and researched early childhood music program.  We will be offering two classes for the following age groups:

  • Infant/Toddler, Birth – Age 2, 10:00 – 10:30 AM:  Children will enjoy being bounced, wiggled and tickled by their grown up.  We will use scarves and other simple props to help us explore free movement.  Each class includes a ball-rolling activity and ends with a gentle lullaby.  This class gives parents tools to help interact with, entertain, and sooth their little one.  Children and adults will both be active participants.
  • Nursery/Preschool, Ages 2 – 5, 10:45 – 11:30 AM:  Children will begin to explore their four voices (speaking, whisper, calling, singing).  Each class will include vocal exploration activities and each child will be encouraged to sing short phrases on his/her own.  We will sing many echo and call-and-response songs.  Children will learn rhymes and simple songs that they can say or sing on their own.  Through the use of games and activities, children will explore different types of movement.  Adults will participate in all activities.

Registration is required.  The fee is $100 per child, $40 for additional siblings.  Please download your registration form and return it to our office, Attn:  Becky Murray.

Using Consequences Effectively

Tuesday, January 29th, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the AHM Family Resource Center, Gilead Hill School, 580 Gilead Street, Hebron
Using material from “Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline” by Dr. Becky Bailey, we will learn how to use consequences effectively by:

  • Helping children learn from their mistakes.
  • Helping children to take responsibility for their actions by modeling self control and intention in these interactions.

This session is facilitated by Lauren Scharn, LMSW (AHM School Social Worker and Outpatient Therapist) as well as by Becky Murray (AHM FRC Coordinator).  Please contact Becky at 860-228-0871 or by email at to register for this free session.  Children are welcome to attend!
