AHM receives $2750.00 in Funding from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

AHM Youth and Family Services, a regional charity for the towns of Andover, Columbia, Hebron, and Marlborough have once again received a grant from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program for $2750.00.

This year’s grant will support the AHM Youth and Family Services Counseling program. According to Tressa Giordano, AHM’s Executive Director, “Coming out of the past two years of isolation for so many families due to the pandemic, AHM’s counseling staff are seeing an ever-increasing number of children, teens, and young adults experiencing mental health challenges.”

Megan Aldridge, AHM’s Clinical Director shared: “Over the past thirty-eight years, AHM Master Level Counselors and Social Workers have helped several thousand families cope with a multitude of social and emotional challenges stemming from a wide range of mental health conditions. This critically important service helps at-risk and vulnerable young people who are coping with conditions such as depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma.” These services at AHM now serve young adults as well up to age 26.” For more information about how to set up an appointment with an AHM Counselor call 860-228-9488, (weekdays). The AHM Board thanks the members of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Marlborough, for bringing to the attention of the Archdiocese of Hartford the mental health services provided by AHM counselors and social workers for residents of the four town region.

Since 1981, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal has been able to assist tens of thousands of people, regardless of race, religion, or color, across the Archdiocese of Hartford with health care, education, housing, emergency expenses, and in numerous other areas. It is through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program and the generosity of its donors that the Appeal can assist a wide array of community-based charities throughout Hartford, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties.
