AHM Careers – Finance Assistant

AHM Youth & Family Services seeks a knowledgeable and skilled Finance Assistant to support the CFO in grant management and accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CFO in facilitating the agency’s financial needs, utilizing AHM’s Cost Allocation and Methodology System.
  • Responsible for entering all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions into QuickBooks.
  • Responsible for verifying and calculating all expenses, generating payment vouchers, proper expense coding and documentation.
  • Ensure grant/program purchases and expenses are approved line items.
  • Responsible for the final accounting of AHM’s events and fundraisers.
  • Responsible for grant management and monthly reporting to state, federal, and private foundations.
  • Assist in processing payroll, including entering timesheet data and calculating payroll deductions.
  • Work with the CFO in providing required financial documentation to the agency’s auditor during the annual audit process.
  • Submit timely end-of- project grant financial reports and follow up on financial close-out procedures.
  • Maintain current and ongoing technical expertise of Quickbooks accounting software.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to the CFO in the administration of accounting best practices and internal controls.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects with the CFO.

Schedule:  30 – 35 hours per week

Requirements:

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, and be proficient with QuickBooks Accounting Software and Microsoft Excel.

A minimum of three years of experience in accounting and grants administration required; experience in non-profit accounting preferred. Must possess knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including state and federal fiscal requirements. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential skills for this position, in addition to excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
