8th Annual Gina Marie’s Restaurant Summer Breeze Dinner

Monday, September 17th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Gina Marie’s Family Restaurant, Main Street, Hebron
The AHM Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 8th Annual Gina Marie’s Restaurant Summer Breeze Dinner.  Troy and Gina Kelsey, owners of Gina Marie’s Restaurant in Hebron, continue to extend their amazing generosity each year by hosing this dinner for AHM.  We are humbled by this gift and thank Gina and Troy, the Gina Marie’s staff and special guest performer Bruce John for honoring our organization in this way.

The evening will feature an opening reception with entertainment, followed by dinner and dessert, We hope you can join us for what has become a wonderful local annual tradition!  Tickets are $55 per person and include:  appetizer reception, complimentary beverage, salad, dinner and dessert.  All proceeds benefit AHM Youth and Family Services programs.  Please see below for a list of the night’s tasty menu offerings.

  • Bourbon Short Ribs:  Braised short ribs brushed with bourbon glaze, served over cheddar and smoked Gouda mashed potatoes, with sea salt roasted asparagus
  • Lobster Ravioli:  Fresh made pasta filled with chunks of lobster meat, spinach, garlic, lemon and ricotta, finished with lobster broth and sherry wine sauce, topped with sea salt and herb roasted asparagus
  • Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Salmon:  Faroe Island Salmon, pan seared, finished with roasted pineapple and herb glaze, served over shredded potato, spinach and cheddar hash
  • Fresco Pasta Purses:  Six cheese pasta pursed, tossed with grilled zucchini, yellow squash, plum tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted garlic, butter, Romano and Gorgonzola cheese

School Success Begins at Home

Thursday, September 27th, 6:00 – 7:00 PM at Horace Porter School, 3 Schoolhouse Road, Columbia
Inspire motivation and reduce stress with this free workshop for parents of children in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.  After this class, you will be able to:

  • Apply simple, practical methods of inspiring your child’s motivation in school and out of school.
  • Recognize who “owns” any given school problem and how to respond effectively.
  • Partner with your child and, as needed, with your child’s teacher to set up a successful homework practice.
  • Identify ways your worries and stress may be affecting your child.
  • Apply simple brain calming strategies to reduce stress and teach these to your children.

Jon Lovett Memorial Golf Tournament

Friday, September 28th, 10:00 AM at Blackledge Country Club, Hebron
In Jon’s memory, the Lovett family is raising awareness and funding to help local families in need.  Proceeds from this tournament will benefit local AHM families in need while managing through unforeseen tragedy.  This will be an 18 hole scramble tournament that includes, cart, lunch, dinner and live entertainment for $125 per player.  If you would like to attend the buffet dinner only, the cost is $30 and kids under 10 are free.  Please contact Mandie Lovett at 860-978-1557 or at Jonmandie@sbcglobal.net for more information.  You can find registration information here.

Parents Talk Series

AHM CHEC Coalition presents a discussion series about important topics related to parenting teens.  Please save the dates for the following talks.  No registration is required and all talks are held at the AHM building, 25 Pendleton Drive, in Hebron.  Please call our office at 860-228-9488 for more information.

Family Fest

Saturday, October 20th from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the AHM building, 25 Pendleton Drive, Hebron
We are excited to announce that we will be holding Family Fest this fall at AHM.  We will be having all sorts of activities, including a corn hole contest, prizes, food trucks, a local band and fun outdoor games for the whole family.  There will also be a small kiddie game corner for the younger ones.

If you are interested in joining our corn hole contest, please fill out our registration form and return it to our office by October 12th.  Individuals are $11.00 and a team of two is $20.00.  Please come and join the fun!
