AHM Careers – Part Time Outpatient Clinician / Student Support Specialist

AHM Youth & Family Services seeks a human services professional to provide clinical social work services to children and their families.  This position has three components: a.) School Based Services at the Hebron Elementary Schools, b.) Individual Counseling at the AHM Clinical Department, and c.) Programmatic Work.


  • School-Based Clinical Work – Work closely with the Director of Educational Services and school district administration to provide individual and group counseling and maintain a student caseload. Lead support groups and classroom workshops. Maintain a referral network of service providers.  Facilitate support groups for special education students and families. Coordinate and help implement students’ behavioral goals and objectives on Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s).  Serve as a liaison between the community and the school.

School-Based Component: 3 days per week (20 hours) during the school year (43 weeks per year)

  • On-Site Clinical Work – Provide individual counseling to students and families at AHM’s office. Conduct intakes and assessments, create treatment plans, and provide referrals as necessary.  

On-Site component:  up to 10 hours per week, year-round

  • Programmatic Work – Work closely with the Clinical Supervisor and Executive Director to provide and lead workshops and groups for families dealing with anxiety, school avoidance, substance abuse and topics as needed.

On-site Component: as needed


  • Position requires a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in master’s level counseling is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current license (LCSW, LMFT or LPC) from the State of CT.
  • Experience working with school-age children.
  • The preferred candidate will be individually contracted currently through private and state insurance panels.
  • Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling, and/or another counseling specialty is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
