AHM Careers – Part Time Family Resource Center Associate

AHM Youth & Family Services has an immediate opening for a child development professional to provide support to parents and mentors in the towns of Andover, Hebron, and Marlborough. This is a grant-funded position through the State Department of Education.  This position facilitates two separate programs: the Parents as Teachers/Parent Educator program and the Mentoring program.

Parent Educator Responsibilities:  Provide early childhood and family support services to foster the optimal development of children and families.

  • Provide home visits to families with children ages birth to five, to increase parent knowledge of child development, and to provide early detection of developmental delays.
  • Facilitate playgroups for parents/caregivers and their children, ages birth to five.
  • Plan playgroup curriculum, coordinate field trips and special events.
  • Maintain required PAT (Parents as Teachers) training.
  • Refer families to AHM services as well as outside services, as needed.
  • Plan special events and activities during the summer months.
  • Produce outcome measurements, compile data as required, and comply with all reporting requirements.

Mentoring Program Responsibilities:  Coordinate the AHM Lanterns Mentoring program at the elementary, middle, and high schools in the towns of Andover, Hebron, and Marlborough.

  • Responsible for the recruitment, interviewing, screening, and training of new mentors.
  • Train and/or supervise current mentors on a monthly basis.
  • Serve as the program liaison for school administrators.
  • Expand the high school mentoring program, which pairs high school students with elementary and middle school students.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements to promote the mentoring program.
  • Plan special events for mentors, mentees, and families (i.e. holiday party, end-of-year picnic).
  • Produce outcome measurements, compile data as required, and comply with all reporting requirements.


Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in child development, human services, education, social work, or a related field.  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. High-level organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with children and adults required.  Must be willing to attend all required PAT and mentoring off-site trainings.
