AHM Careers – Middle School Student Support Services Counselor

AHM Youth & Family Services seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide intervention, prevention, and positive youth development services to middle school students and their families.


  • Work closely with school personnel to provide individual and group counseling and maintain a large student caseload.
  • Conduct assessments of students and provide referrals as necessary.
  • Participate in PPT and 504 meetings.
  • Active member of the middle school Crisis Team.
  • Provide support to faculty regarding social and emotional needs of youth.
  • Serve as the main contact for middle school referrals to the Juvenile Review Board, working in collaboration with the school, police, and court system.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and AHM colleagues to provide positive youth development programs, including Seventh Grade Team Building Day, Peer Mediation program, and Power of Words.
  • Facilitate psycho education and prevention work in the areas of suicide prevention and stress management.
  • Conduct presentations to parents relevant to the social and emotional development of middle school youth.
  • Maintain updated and accurate case notes and files; submit reports and statistics as required by AHM.
  • Facilitate Girl Power Camp, in coordination with the High School Student Support Services Counselor, the week following the last day of school.


This position follows the academic year schedule –  35 hours per week, 44 weeks per year.


Position requires a current Connecticut LCSW license with a minimum of 5 years of master’s level experience in social work, counseling, or related positions in the human services field.  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
