2008 AHM JAZZ FOR JUNIORS SUMMER CAMP
The Third Annual AHM Jazz for Juniors Summer Camp will take place on August 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am each day. The summer Jazz Camp is open to students entering grades 6 – 9 in the fall of 2008. The cost of the AHM Summer Jazz Camp is $85.00 for the week, which will include music charts and instructional time led by Music Conductor Dominic Marino. Snacks will be provided each day. The camp will accept at this time the first ten students from Andover, Hebron, and Marlborough as well as neighboring communities. Additional slots may open at the discretion of the conductor. At the AHM Summer Jazz Camp, students will learn about music improvisation and ensemble techniques. There will also be a chance to practice a solo in a workshop setting as well as perform one or two songs live as a group on the last day of camp. Each musician should have basic music skills, including being able to read and play a minimum of 5 – 8 notes on their chosen instrument. All lessons will take place in the air-conditioned AHM Performing Arts Hall. The deadline for returning registration forms to AHM is July 15, 2008. Students are encouraged to be creative in an open atmosphere and will learn to solo. Ensemble techniques will also be reinforced. Participants are responsible for their own instrument and supplies. The camp this year will focus on students entering grades 6-9.
